Government is not reason, it is not eloquence -- it is force."— George Washington

The time for “politics as usual” is past.
The time for public responsibility is upon us.

I have embarked on quite a journey. My journey actually is the product of many years of watching and learning from a broad range of public personalities, all wiser than me, I’m sure. Some of those who have inspired me were the founders of our blessed country. It is with this in mind that I share a couple of stories here about George Washington and the spirit of service that he embodied.

George Washington is best known as the Father of our Country and the general who led our first military through the heartbreak of Valley Forge to victory over the British. What many today don’t know is that when the war was over, he was offered the “monarchy” of this newly born country by officers under his command. It was a pivotal moment in history because he was then so popular that he could have received virtually anything he wanted. What isn’t as well known is that he was a humble man. Instead of becoming king of his new nation, he refused. Read More

When later it was suggested he stay on as President, he again refused citing the need for “shop keepers and farmers” to serve their country and then return to their professions.

Today, we have a political class that makes careers of political office. They are often chosen by prior career politicians and will likely themselves help to choose their successors. This isn’t a system that well serves the public good.

It is in part to break the chain of political entitlement that I am running for office. I do not seek a career, but rather service. Legacy isn’t my calling, unless it is the legacy of returning Ohio to its greatness, and then I seek no credit. Mine has been a life filled with challenges and opportunities met. I could be well satisfied and be looking to enjoy the fruits of my labors. But instead I’m looking to perhaps my life’s greatest challenge. Now it’s my turn to give back more than I’ve received. When that’s done, that will be enough.

Too often politicians think more about their political future than their public responsibility. The time for this “politics as usual” is past. The time for public responsibility is upon us; even when that means leaders have to sacrifice their own futures for the public good. We need leaders whose only concern is their community. We need leaders who are willing to risk their own “fortunes and sacred honor” for the people they serve. Read Less

A New Year

Posted on January 1st, 2010 by Jeff Krabill

Since the announcement in September, my candidacy has been on quite a roll. Whether it’s been the fundraisers, the door-to-door, the circulation of petitions or attending dozens of meetings, the public’s response has been strikingly supportive. We just completed another fundraising drive and the results will soon be published as part of our year end financial report. Most people are interested in one of two things…how do we fix school funding and how do we fix Ohio’s economy. I too share those concerns, in fact they are the primary drivers behind my deciding to run.

If you believe the political pundits, 2010 will be a very good year, if you aren’t an incumbent. This is likely true at any level of government, so we will continue to run an energetic and aggressive campaign to return Ohio’s government to its citizens and return Ohio to its pre-eminence. That is why I chose the campaign’s theme…Ohio First!

A Special Opportunity

Posted on December 20th, 2009 by Jeff Krabill

I am looking for one or several young people that would like to join me on this journey as a campaign aide(s). There is much to be done, much that can be learned and some once in a lifetime opportunities that can be experienced. Will you get rich? No, but I think Benjamin Franklin said it best, “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”

If you or someone you know is interested and can make a commitment through November 4, please contact me. I look forward to our discussion. Contact me!
