Did you know there were four verses to the National Anthem?

Listen to this Marine as he sings the fourth verse.  Very inspiring!

During my opponent’s first term in office…

  • School funding has been cut to most of Ohio’s districts for the first time since the DeRolph decision
  • Schools like Sandusky, Port Clinton and Danbury are all being whiplashed by the new HB1 (EBM) funding scheme, and
  • Sandusky will lose over $7 million annually when the current EBM is fully implemented.

But this isn’t enough havoc for one term in office. In his recent newsletter my opponent states, “We have also created a Renewable Energy School Pilot Program that promotes the innovative green energy industry in Ohio by requiring targeted school districts to install solar panels on their buildings. This commonsense measure will save money for Ohio schools and Ohio taxpayers while advancing our role in the alternative energy economy.” Several points about this statement jump out…

  • If an industry is truly “innovative”, it doesn’t need state government to force it on us.
  • “Requiring” schools to install anything is a mandate and flies in the face of a free society.
  • Where does the funding come from for these solar panels? Is this just another mandate being forced on local taxpayers?
  • “Commonsense” isn’t exactly what I would call a top down, Columbus-knows-best solution. Commonsense in America comes from the people.
  • As for saving money, no it doesn’t. What it does is shift the cost to a different taxpayer’s pocket. Frankly, whether that money is from Washington or Columbus, their hand is still our pocket.

This is all more of the same from Dennis Murray. But who is paying the bill?
