A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."— Thomas Jefferson

The Issues: Ohio’s Economic Climate –
Ugly and Getting Uglier!

Below are a few of the best comparative studies showing just how bleak Ohio’s economic climate really is. In spite of claims to the contrary by the current Governor and his followers, these sources are data driven analyses which do not paint a very pretty picture. We can not hope to be competitive, create good jobs and keep human talent in Ohio given the economic abuse these studies document.

Can this be turned around? Absolutely, but it takes courage and visionary leadership. We don’t need politicians; we need elected officials that understand fundamental economics.

The State Climate Business Index ranks Ohio 47th. Rich States, Poor States ranks us 49th. The California Prosperity study actually documents a thorough study done of ALL states’ economies and shows in detail why Ohio is ranked 49th, ahead of only Michigan.

Note the correlation between the states cited in the three research studies as being most competitive and the states shown on the map as having some of the lower jobless rates. Also note where Ohio ranks on both the map and in the studies.
